I have always purchased Panasonic phones specifically because the keypad on their phones lit up with every incoming call. This feature is great for someone – like myself, who has trouble hearing. So if I can’t hear the phone ringing I can atleast see it light up. My old Panasonic began to give me trouble and I needed to purchase a new phone and that’s when I decided to try the AT&T 5.8 Ghz Cordless. I was amazed by the sound quality as well as the different ring tones and volume features. I like the fact that if the phone is ringing and I don’t want to answer but want the ringing to stop, I just simply press the off button and the ringing stops and goes into message mode after the fourth ring (that’s what I have it set for). I love this phone so much, I purchased one for my friend who absolutely loves it and I am ordering another one for myself. This phone provides great quality for a great price! I highly recommend buying this phone!

We have bought several of these phones at my work, and they have all exceeded our needs. We have a 2-story 10,000 sq ft concrete building, and the phone reception works anywhere I walk within the building, and out to the far reaches of the parking lot. It does not interfere with our 2.8 ghz wireless networking (to be expected), and offers some great features.

For example, my coworker needed to leave his base station at my desk but work upstairs. The phone can be configured so that the base ringer is silent, while the handset ringer is loud. This lets me work without being bothered by the ringer.

In addition, you can record your own ringtones and assign them to callers in your phonebook. It’s a great addition to the included talking Caller-ID feature, especially for vision impaired users. At home, I have recorded special ringers for friends, so I know at once when they are calling.

Clearly, this model and the model with included answering machine are the best of the current Panasonic 5.8 ghz phone offerings.

I’ve had a number of Panasonic corded and cordless sets over the years and I’ve always had good luck with them. I replaced an older Panasonic, that I really liked, with this one to get more handsets on the same system. So far it’s just as good as the old one was in all the ways I liked it (good range, volume, call quality, headphone jack) and it has a few extra features like a talking caller ID. The buttons are big as is the LCD, although the text is so large that, in some cases, the horizontal display seems to have too few characters per line to read the caller ID. I am not using the built-in answering machine as I have voicemail with my carrier. The phone has good VM detect. What I really like is the shared phonebook. Instead of having to sync all the handsets in some fashion, as I had to with the older phones, this system has one directory shared among all the handsets. It’s much easier to manage. All in all I’m pleased, as I usually am with Panasonic phones.

When I shopped, there were no new ones available but I chose a refurbed instead of used, thinking a better chance that it wouldn’t have problems. But when I got it some keys weren’t working — called Panasonic, they said to send it and eight days later I had a replacement — the box didn’t say it was refurbed (although the receipt did) so I don’t know if it was. Either way, this one worked fine.

Sound quality is much better than the 2.4 Ghz phone it replaced. Only feature I haven’t quite figured is call screening — but I haven’t checked if that’s a setting I need to adjust. The feature set is nice and it’s fairly easy to use, programming features using the handsets.

It’s nice that it comes with one extra handset and base so I can have an extension in a room that’s not wired. Range seems good (have not taken the phone outside to test.

So far so good (have owned the replacement about 1 week).

After 5 years of daily use, some buttons of my previous Panasonic stopped responding, so it was replaced by this one.
The sound quality is excellent, the display and fonts are bigger than in my previous model. The buttons are back-lit, which is essential at night. Unfortunately, the three upper buttons for opening phonebook, menu and redial are NOT backlit. BTW, the redial memory is quite short compared to my mobile phone, although it has at least (or only?) 10 numbers.
The voice caller ID is very useful. Another nice feature is the programmable silent mode. Unfortunately, I can’t specify two silent mode ranges, e.g. 14-16 and 12-7. The answering machine is OK.
If you live outside US, you’ll need to replace the power adapters. While most of the appliances today use universal power adapters (110/220V), Panasonic ships with 110V only. Same true for other Panasonic phones as well.
Overall, it’s a good buy, inexpensive, good sound quality and feature rich.

I bought this phone system more than three years ago. At the time I didn’t have phone company voice mail, so I relied on the answering machine function extensively until about a year ago when I got voice mail service through the phone company.

The only problem I ever had with this phone system was the short life of the original batteries – after about a year they were no longer holding a charge, to the point of dropping calls. Fortunately I discovered that by then it was possible to get Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries for these phones, and I bought them here at amazon: Nickel-Metal Hydride Cordless Phone Battery For Panasonic P-P511. Good decision: the batteries are still working after two years.

Yesterday I finally replaced this system, and a separate Panasonic cordless phone, with a newer one: Panasonic KX TG6434PK – Cordless phone w/ call waiting caller ID & answering system – DECT 6.0 – black + 3 additional handset(s). I wanted the updated features available on the new system, including the instant coordination of stored phone book lists, and now that I have voice mail through my phone service, I wanted the voice mail features that this older system lacks. I don’t need the answering machine feature, but it’s hard to find a system without it, and the KX-TG6434PK was on sale at at a brick and mortar store, at a very attractive price.

I have owned other major brands of cordless phones, but none have been as dependable and long-lasting as the Panasonics.
